How to Stay Safe on Facebook: 13 Secrets Tips You Need to Know!

These are some of the best practices to protect your Facebook account from hackers. However, no security measure is foolproof, so you should always be vigilant and cautious when using Facebook or any other online service.

1. Create a secure password that is hard to guess and easy to remember. Avoid using your name, birthdate, or common words in your password. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. You can also use a password manager like LastPass or 1password to generate and store strong passwords for you.

2. Use two-factor authentication or MFA which adds an extra layer of security to your login process. Two-factor authentication requires you to enter a code that is sent to your phone or email after you enter your password. This way, even if someone knows your password, they won’t be able to access your account without the code.

3. Read emails from Facebook carefully and don’t click on any suspicious links or attachments. Hackers may send you phishing emails that look like they are from Facebook, but are actually designed to steal your information or install malware on your device. Always check the sender’s address and the URL of any link before clicking on it.

4. Have multiple admins for your Facebook page or group, and use proper page admin levels. This way, if one of your admins gets hacked, you can still manage your page or group and remove the compromised admin. You can also assign different levels of permissions to your admins, such as editor, moderator, analyst, or advertiser.

5. Report any unusual activity on your Facebook account or page to Facebook. If you notice any posts, messages, or changes that you didn’t make, or if you receive a notification that someone logged into your account from an unknown device or location, you should report it to Facebook as soon as possible. You can also check your security and login settings to see where and when your account was accessed.

6. Log out of Facebook after using shared computers or devices. If you use Facebook on a public computer, such as at a library or a cafe, make sure you log out of your account when you are done. Otherwise, someone else may be able to access your account and misuse it.

7. You should also be careful about phishing attempts, which are fake websites or emails that try to trick you into entering your login information. Always check the website’s URL before you enter your login information. When in doubt, type URL into your browser. Cybersecurity awareness training may help you to stay cyber smart.

8. You can also set up login alerts to get notified when someone logs into your account from an unfamiliar device or browser. You can find this option under Settings > Security and Login > Get alerts about unrecognized logins.

9. If you think your account has been hacked or taken over, you should visit https://www.facebook.com/hacked to secure your account. You will be asked to change your password and review recent login activity. You may also need to confirm your identity with Facebook by uploading a copy of your ID.

10. You should not accept friend requests from people you don’t know. Scammers may create fake accounts to friend people and spam your timeline, tag you in posts or send you malicious messages.

11. You should watch out for malicious software that can cause damage to your computer or device and compromise your account. You should keep your web browser up to date and remove suspicious applications or browser add-ons. You should also never click suspicious links, even if they appear to come from a friend or a company you know.

12. You should use a password manager to store your passwords securely and generate strong passwords for you. There are many different applications that can do this for you.
13. You should review the apps that have permission to access your Facebook account and remove the ones that you don’t use or trust. You can find this option under Settings > Apps and Websites.
